Dispersion-Compensating & Broadband Optics for Ultrafast Lasers

VENTEON Laser Technologies is exclusive distributor of the NANEO | CHORD broadband femtosecond optics by Nanolayers Optical Coatings GmbH, which are used in the VENTEON | PULSE products. These optics are high-quality with most demanding specifications and highest damage thresholds, manufactured with Ion Beam Sputtering (IBS) for superior performance and recognized as a market leader in the ultrafast optics community.

The NANEO | CHORD : DCM7 is a broadband (600-1200nm) dispersion compensating GVD mirror used for compensation of the positive group delay dispersion of the optical components in the light path of a femtosecond laser pulse by introducing negative dispersion. By this broadband compression elements one gets nearly transform limited pulses according to the laser´s spectral bandwidth.
Compared to other methods used for GVD compensation, the use of high damage-threshold NANEO | CHORD : DCM7 mirrors results in a compact and robust design for ultrashort laser oscillators with octave-spanning spectrum with a minimum of optical components without of complex and often narrow-band and inefficient prism or grating sequences.

These mirrors are ideally suited forpulse compression of few-cycle laser pulses as generated by VENTEON | PULSE : ONE oscillators to compensate for the dispersion arising from optical elements between the oscillator and experiment, e.g. air, lenses, windows.

The NANEO | CHORD : DCM9 is a new GVD mirror shifted to the "blue" now covering a wavelength range of 500-1000 nm. These mirrors are specially designed to be suitable for pulse compression of femtosecond pulses generated by amplification, filamentation, OPA / OPG and others. They feature a high damage-threshold and a negative GVD of -100 fs2 for the mirror pair @ 700 nm designed to compensate fused silica up to fourth order.
As compressor mirrors a size of 20 x 35 mm is available on stock to provide the possibility to use the mirrors in multi-bounce configuration. For OPO applications, a pump window for the SHG of Ti:sapphire system at 400 nm is provided.

Femtosecond laser pulses with spectral widths approaching one octave and beyond, require specialized optical components to avoid the accumulation of phase distortions that can not be precompensated for.
Especially in femtosecond measurement equipment and setups an important component is a broadband beamsplitter. Most often metallic beamsplitters are used which introduce, however, high losses and undesired wavelength dependence.

We have developed all-dielectric ultrabroadband beamsplitters with constant splitting ratio and balanced dispersion in transmission and reflection.

The figure on the left side below shows the reflectance and transmission of a lossless beamsplitter with 50% +/- 5% splitting ratio and identical group delay for transmission and reflection in each direction. The shown example covers the wavelength range from 600 nm to 1500 nm. The dispersion in reflection upon the dielectric coating is designed to be identical to 0.7 mm of fused silica in a way that the dispersion in transmission is the same as in reflection, shown in the right picture.
